Dear Kingsley,

I am strugging with the same problem of Sri, what we differ lies in the working experience as I have been working in the IT sales and business development roles for 10 years within which I spent 4 years focusing on the business application solutions such as Oracle ERP and Business Intelligence of other packages.

Leveraging by my undergraduate study in Marketing and being myself the user of of sales force automation, I believe CRM is the domain area I should further specialise. Here is my plain points,

- For the positions of junior CRM business analyst, will the employers prefer fresh graduates in computer science & IT to seasoned sales professionals without academic IT foundation?
- I can take the CRM certification course to enhance my knowledge yet it seems the employers only value candidates with field experience with certification but not certification only.

I am also very interested in the free coaching session on "How You Can Transition To A CRM Business Analyst Career" and wonder if I can join as well.

Personally im interested in Microsoft .NET like what you said that its better than JAVA.

Not Really,

The demand is not based on having more or less than fifteen years of experience.

When I started my consulting career I had 1 month of experience but the demand for my skills was the same as if I had 5 or 10 or 15 years of experience.

The demand is based on "how good you can prove that you are" and not on the actual number of years even though it may seem otherwise.

But you did bring up a good point. Which is, what is the demand for our skills based on?

The articles is motivating but in reality theres is less demand for experienced professional who are having more than 15 years of experience.

You are right in saying that one needs a strong marketing plan for becoming a freelancer.

It is not easy to establish trust with someone that you haven't done business with before but you can do it by working very hard to satisfy or exceed expectations every step of the way

Finally, while you also need to evaluate the business analysis services you will be bringing to the marketplace. You need to begin with a SWOT Analysis so you can align your competitive strenghts with the demands in the local BA market.

I will be releasing a SWOT Analysis Training in the next 1 week ... that is where you need to start!

IT Coach,

Considering to be a freelancer BA, once you know your strenghts, how do you market them?

Where do you go to find those companies who would benefit from your skills?

It is hard to start and to be trusted so how do you get companies to trust your skills without knowing you?

I know that all will resume in a strong marketing plan but how to get there?

also how is it better than business administration and management in bussiness?

give me samples of real application of it in bussiness analysing ,suppose with figures also how it can be used in worldly economics and evaluation of risk-takingof starting a new project?

I did business & I saw lots of problem in that , its not new for me .

I am Indian & in I India lots of things impact on business .

INDIA is agriculture country & people do not invest without backup . so lots of thing are harder

Just to make sure that I am on the right path, could you copy your course /degree syllabus into a word document and e-mail it to us?

The reason is that every university or college makes changes to their industrial engineering curriculum and I would like to compare the requirements for BA Jobs to let's say Industrial Engineering in South Africa.

Hi Kingsley,
I like your articles and posts and look forward to a good advise from you on the following :

The toughest challenge for me is to get back into Business Analysis after working for just less than 2 yrs where my domain was government sector projects and a dash of incomplete healthcare knowledge.

I 'm neither a fresher nor an experienced guy with very less domain exp. I mostly get healthcare projects ( since my last project was on health care domain) where my knowledge is inadequate and companies do not want to employ me for the same.How can I bag such jobs when the domain knowlege is lacking? or how can I convince that my BA skills are good enough for the new domain?

I am not sure what additional skills I need to gain to be employable.Should I gain any technical knowledge or do IIBA certifications?

Please advise.
